1e. Why is the Donkey Known as a Fool?

Mr Donkey was busy eating grass.

Just then Mr Dog came and said, “Dark clouds are coming. It’s going to rain heavily. A flood can come. You are BIGGER than me. I am SMALLER than you. Let me climb on your back.”

Mr Donkey nodded and Mr Dog hopped on TOP of his back.

Miss Cat was watching all this from FAR.

Miss Cat came and said to both of them, “Dark clouds are NEAR. It’s going to rain heavily. A flood can come. Mr Dog is BIGGER than me and Mr Donkey is BIGGER than Mr Dog. So it means that I am the SMALLEST. Let me climb on your backs.”

Both of them nodded and Miss Cat climbed above them.

Just then Miss Hen came and said to all three of them, “Dark clouds are NEAR. It’s going to rain heavily. A flood can come. Miss Cat is bigger than me. And Mr Dog is bigger than Miss Cat. And Mr Donkey is the BIGGEST. So it means that I am the SMALLEST. Let me climb on your backs.”

All three of them nodded and Miss Hen climbed on the top.

After a few minutes under the weight of all the animals, Mr Donkey asked himself, “Is this why I am called a fool?”

Choose the correct answer.

Where to Put it? Now that Doku’s concept of ‘on, under, above and below’ is clear, Poku has a quick task. He wants Doku to put some things at the right places. In the game given below, things are given in the left blue rectangle and a shelf is given at the right. Put the things at their proper place by dragging and dropping them ON top of the shelf and UNDER the shelf. Let’s see how quickly you can do it!

Click/Tap on the items that are on TOP of the tables.

Good Animals: There are six animals. Three animals are good and well-trained. They are safe to play with. But the other three are very naughty and often bite kids. Can you help Doku find the right animals to play with? Poku has a little hint for you. The good animals are waiting for Doku at the bottom!

Click/Tap on the animals that are at the BOTTOM of the stairs.

Where’s the Ball? Poku and Doku are playing football. And fighting. Poku says he is about to score a goal. Whereas Doku says that his ball is the one nearer to the goal post. Can you help Doku understand the difference between near and far? Hint: Poku’s ball is blue in colour.

The Dear doesn’t Understand Near: Little Doku is still having trouble understanding the concept of nearer and farther. That is why he is not able to score a goal. Poku took him to watch a football match. Can you help Poku explain which player is near the football and which one is far from it?

Click on the player who is farther from the football.

Move and place the yellow dancing star given at the top right corner on the animal who is NEARER to the finish line.

1c. Am I Bigger or Smaller?

The Wild Animals: “Doku, imagine you are in a forest. Would you like to meet a big, bad tiger or a cute, little cat?” asked Poku.

Doku quickly replied, “Obviously, a little cat. A big tiger can kick me.”

“But whenever we get a toy or ice-cream, you always want a big one. And do you know cats and tigers are related? Then why not a big tiger?” asked Poku.

Again, Doku quickly replied, “No. No. No. Big toys and food are good. But a big tiger can be dangerous.”

Poku laughed, “Yes, you are right. I am proud of you. Now show me which animal you would like to meet in a forest.”

Click/Tap on the smaller animal in each box.

The Cute Birds: Poku came running and said, “Doku, today we are going for bird-watching. You love birds, right? Would you like to see big birds or small ones?”

Doku jumped and replied, “Birds are nice. So, I love big birds!”

Poku nodded, “Again, you are right little bro. Come here. Choose the birds you want to see.”

Click/Tap on the bigger bird in each box.

Break the Fight: Three parrots are fighting. All of them are claiming to be the biggest one. Little Doku came and said, “Don’t fight. All of you are big.” The parrots replied, “But only one of us can be the biggest one. You are a wise boy. Please help us decide.”

Can you help Doku put the parrots in the correct sequence? Drag the images and arrange the parrots in the increasing order of their size.

The Hard One: This one is a bit tricky. But Doku is sure you can help him. Drag and arrange the balls in the decreasing order of their size.

Doku, the Wise Boy: Doku has become an expert now. So his mother has given him a task. She wants Doku to put some things in the fridge. She has two shelves in her fridge: the left one is for small food items and the right one is for big food items. Can you help Doku make his mother happy?

Take the food items from the blue boxes given at the centre. Now drag and drop the small ones in the left purple box and the big ones in the right orange box.

1b. Let’s Play Inside – Outside

Now that Doku has learnt the importance of INSIDE and OUTSIDE, he has to prove that he will not get lost. Doku is little. So he must always follow Poku. That means if Poku goes inside, Doku has to go inside. And if Poku goes outside, Doku has to go outside. Poku is ready to test Doku. Let’s help him!

The Playful Puppy: The puppy wants to play inside the empty box. Can you help him?

Click/Tap on the picture in which the dog is INSIDE the box.

Free Poppy, the Parrot! Birds should not be caged. They should be free to fly high in the sky.

Compare the boxes and click on the pictures in which the animal is OUTSIDE.

Compare the boxes and click on the pictures in which the item is INSIDE.

1a. Inside – Outside

Always Put Trash Inside the Bin! Poku is angry. And Doku is puzzled. Poku is angry because Doku has thrown trash on the floor. A confused Doku asked, “What’s the big deal? It’s just near the bin.” Poku replied, “But it is OUTSIDE the dustbin. You must always throw trash INSIDE the dustbin. Go and throw it. Then I will tell you a very interesting story on why inside and outside matters.” At this, a very excited Doku quickly ran to throw the trash. Let’s help him!

In the game given below, drag and drop only the trash items INSIDE the dustbin.

Inside and Outside Matters

A cute kitty was playing INSIDE the basket.

“Are you hungry my baby?” asked the clever cat from OUTSIDE.

“Yes, Mama Cat. Very!” replied the cute kitty.

The cat went out to hunt for food.

“Oh! What a pretty bird INSIDE the cage! Let me take it for Kitty.” She was about to open the cage.

But just then, the clever cat saw a big, beautiful red parrot INSIDE a cage. “Oh! The BIGGER, the better. Today’s big meal looks so delicious.”

The Red Parrot (RP) got scared and thought, “Let me call my friend Blue Parrot (BP) for help.”

BP came and saw the cat near his friend. He said, “Don’t worry RP. Let me call my friend Green Parrot (GP). He is an expert at opening cages. We will save you!”

GP came and opened the cage. GP, BP and RP made a plan and left the cage open.

When the clever cat came INSIDE the cage to catch RP, BP closed the cage. Now the cat was INSIDE the cage and the parrots were laughing at her from OUTSIDE!
